Bespoke Residential Courses
Do you remember your Adventure Trip? At Real Adventure we know that the benefits of an activity programme don’t end when you leave, in fact, it’s then that they become most apparent. Many people still remember their school trip in the outdoors with fond memories. Pupils’ self-development is apparent; they discover new interests and the discipline and teamwork of the activities build on the ‘citizenship’ aspect of the National Curriculum.
You know that your pupils will be safe because our staff are experienced and qualified to lead in the environments we visit – whether you’re up in the mountains to see the effects of footpath erosion or canoeing around ‘wild cat island’ on Coniston, studying the rare water plantain. We are dedicated to providing your group with the most appropriate course and we will work closely with you to make sure that this happens.
“Thanks to all the team who made our residential such a memorable experience. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed all the actvities. It was great fun to see the teachers joining in with us. Thanks to Mark for the experience of eating bananas wrapped in bacon and the delicious sticky toffee pudding on the last night. We have told the Year 5 pupils all about it and they are looking forward to next year already. Thanks.”
Lucie Phelps – Head Teacher, Lindal and Marton School
As we can never know exactly what a group wants until we meet them, we constantly review their progress and modify our approach accordingly to make sure that we’re offering the most suitable and challenging programme, a range of activities that they’ll keep with them for life. We can help you give your students the experience they need to thrive. Click here to download a sample programme.
Catering
For any residential we can provide the catering, no matter how large your group or dietary needs. Our head chef Mark normally works at the Bridge Street restaurant in Kendal, he loves to have a change from time to time and really enjoys cooking for large numbers of people really great food.
We believe that eating good basic healthy food is crucial to having a quality time, this is the way we all try to live our lives from day to day. All the ingredients we use is fresh from the butchers, Fruit and Vedge stall, or direct from the Bakery.
We use More Bakery in Staveley where possible for our roles for lunches and bread for soups.
A friend of ours Margret is the author of Eat Naked, have a look at her site.
Eating naked is eating without the extras:
- food that’s whole, unrefined, and often comes unpackaged
- food that’s grown naturally: organic, without the pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals and processes used to store and transport it
- food that’s fresh, without artificial preservatives
- food that’s grown locally, without all the extra transportation miles and associated costs
- food that’s prepared minimally, cooking without lots of extra sauces, additives, and unhealthy fats in a way that’s simple, fast and fun
Accomodation
As we are a mobile unit we can rock up and take over any accommodation that can fit us in. We bring along all the kit, food, extra drying facilities (so your cloths actually dry for the next day!) Catering equipment etc. etc.
We can book the accommodation for you so all you have to worry about is getting there, we can even sort out that is you wish.
Have a look at these recommendations for places to stay whilst you are with us.
By not having the overheads of a centre you will be surprised at the value a bespoke package can be.

“Pat and I organised the trip again this year: I can honestly say that it was one of the absolute best ! Dan the Man got together a fantastic set of instructors and locations / activities, and combined with our own team of superb staff and Otters we all created a week that I know the kids will always remember. Thanks to everyone – especially all the kids who were up for some pretty scary stuff – for a fantastic week.”

Healthy Eating
At Real Adventure the life skills that a young person brings away from their residential experience can be enhanced by introducing the ethos of good, healthy eating. If you wanted it including into your program then our food expert will work with a group at a time to go through the process of choosing, buying and creating good food for the rest of the team. The Group will:
- Plan the menu for the 24 hour period
- Go to the local butchers, market & bakers and purchase the food
- Return, prepare and serve with the guidance of our food expert
Many people use pre-packed dinners. We hope to teach at an early age how cost effective and easy it is to create real healthy food.

“…Just think if you are lucky you’re going to live for about 75 years and you are going to be eating 3 times a day, every single day for the rest of your life, you might as well be good at cooking…”
