The young people from Lindale Primary had a brilliant three days with us at Low Gillerthwaite in Ennerdale this week.

Lindal & Marton Primary School Residential
On Monday 23rd we picked up 24 trainee adults and 4 of their staff and headed over to Gearstones Lodge in the Dales for the week.
After a wet and wild time packing and driving over to the dales we changed plan from the Ghyll Scramble (which would have been flooding) to the climbing wall before ariving at the Lodge for our first feast.
During the week we all Caved, Climbed, Ghyll Scrambled, Summited Ingleborough and ate lots of great food. Good time were had.
A big thanks to the team for being so good during the week and to their staff for spending their week away from their families.

Malvern 2011 Residential
On Thursday 12th May we had 70+ Year 9′s from Malvern College turn up with their staff for 4 days of fun and adventure.
The long weekend was mainly a a Duke of Edinburgh taster surrounded by kayaking, canoeing, climbing, caving, ghyll scrambling, rock climbing lots of fun and tasty food.
A huge thanks goes out to Mr Major and his staff for committing their days off to bringing the team away.
We used 5 accommodation locations…
Bell Cottage
Striding Edge Hostel
Swirral Edge Barn
Bury Jubilee Youth Centre
&
Sykeside Camp site.
Thanks again to all involved with the trip.

Sponsored Abseil
RV Projects Team 9 are a Team of 11 young people aged 18 – 30 who are going to Romania to change the lives of young children with disabilities at Kindergarten No15, by renovating and rejuvenating aspects of the buildings and grounds. As a team we are fundraising in order to purchase the necessary equipment needed. RV Projects Team 9 are participating in a number of fundraising activities including a street collection, a carwash, personal donations and a sponsored 1km abseil using Kendal Fire station training tower. We are grateful to Dan Robinson of Real Adventure for supporting the abseiling event through his kind donation of all equipment.
“I think this project will be a real eye opener, I have enjoyed everything that we have done so far. I am really looking forward to doing the abseil to raise more funds for our project!” Bethan Burton.

Despite the drizzle the team had a great day today, 2 groups headed up onto the side of Coniston Old Man for their river study after a short morning in the classroom…

Mean while the other 2 teams headed down the side of the Lake and launched their canoes. With a picnic on the Peal Island, games on the beach, exploration of nearly the whole lake and its shores, more fun in the boats they all arrived back safe and ready for a good feed.

GCSE PE
As a little change from the school wall and to give us a little more time outside of the school time table we headed to Awesome Walls with the GCSE Climbing PE team. Rich and I went down with 2 teams, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Looking at the Fundamentals of climbing movement; centre of balance, weight transfer and rotation. The team responded well and increased their personal grades. Towards the end we looked at momentum and focus.
Rich will be back at the School for a few more weeks training the team before their assessment in Feb.
Parents Evening
During the summer we are running Flookburgh Primary School’s Residential. Tonight was a chance to meet the young people, parents and other staff on the trip and show them a little taste of what they will be up to and answer any burning questions.
During their week we will be heading up to the top of one of the peaks in the Lakes. When asked what a mountain was we got a couple of great replies…

“A massive, pointy rock” – Jimmy
We are all now really looking forwards to it.
